Port of Laredo
Laredo’s waterfront combines a fishing harbour with a marina on the Cantabrian coast. Both sit beside the town within a sheltered port approached between a protective breakwater and a counter-mole, linking local maritime work with recreational boating.
The fishing port includes a fish auction hall and ice-making facilities associated with landing and preparing catches. Alongside it, marina pontoons accommodate private vessels, with areas for resident boats and visiting craft arranged within the harbour.
A boatyard on the northern side provides space ashore for maintenance, next to marine workshops and a sailing school. These facilities support a maritime economy centred on fishing, boat services and coastal visitors, with the working harbour forming part of the town’s everyday waterfront rather than a large freight terminal.
