Port of Bayonne
Bayonne is an industrial river port handling bulk commodities and general cargo along the Adour. Its quays extend on both banks near the river’s Atlantic entrance, serving agricultural trade and manufacturing businesses in the surrounding region.
Cereals, fertilisers and metal products are among its established cargoes. Grain and other bulk materials use specialised handling and storage facilities, including the silos at Blancpignon. Road and rail connections allow these terminals to receive or dispatch goods inland as part of the same supply chain.
The port’s activity is spread across a working river frontage rather than concentrated in a single terminal. Its commercial importance rests on connecting regional producers and industrial users with sea transport for materials that are commonly moved in large consignments.
