Atlantic Container Line (ACL) is a specialized transatlantic carrier operating as a subsidiary of Grimaldi Group. Founded in 1967, ACL was the first to introduce roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) and container (ConRo) vessels in North Atlantic trade. Today, the company operates a modern fleet of 5 G4-class ConRo vessels, each with a capacity of 3,800 TEUs and 1,307 vehicle units, connecting Northern Europe (Liverpool, Antwerp, Bremerhaven, Gothenburg) with North America (Halifax, Baltimore, New York, Port Said).
A unique aspect of ACL’s operations is its dual capability to handle containers, heavy equipment, rolling stock, and project cargo on the same vessel. The company maintains strategic partnerships with major ports including Port of New York/New Jersey and Port of Antwerp-Bruges, where it operates dedicated terminals with automated cargo handling systems.
The company has reduced its carbon emissions per TEU by 40% since 2008 through fleet modernization and speed optimization, aligning with IMO 2030 targets.
