Port of Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo’s port occupies the mouth of the Ozama River beside the historic city. Passenger terminals and working cargo facilities share this river entrance, giving the waterfront a role in both maritime tourism and the supply of goods to the urban economy.
Don Diego and Sans Souci are the principal tourist terminals, with facilities for cruise passengers and other port activity. Cargo operations include general freight and specialised handling for wheeled vehicles, while separate industrial facilities serve imports moving through the river port.
The proximity of the Colonial City makes the passenger waterfront especially significant for visitors arriving by sea. At the same time, the port’s cargo functions connect the river frontage with distribution and industrial activity beyond the historic centre.
