Port of Samana

Samaná links cruise visitors with the waterfront of Santa Bárbara and the surrounding peninsula. Its maritime tourism role has gained new shoreside infrastructure with the first phase of Samaná Bayport, inaugurated in April 2026 after receiving initial ship calls from December 2025.

The development includes visitor information, shops, food outlets and a transport centre for excursions and taxis. These facilities bring arrival services together near the town and provide a base for the local businesses that serve passengers during port calls.

Excursions extend beyond the waterfront to Cayo Levantado, Los Haitises, Las Galeras and the El Limón waterfall. Bayport is being developed in phases, so its completed first stage represents only part of the wider investment in cruise tourism around the bay.
