Port of Puerto Plata
Puerto Plata’s city waterfront includes Taino Bay, a cruise terminal that connects ship calls with visits to the historic urban centre. Its location makes the port an arrival point for passengers exploring the city as well as joining excursions farther afield.
The terminal has its own visitor facilities, including shops, dining areas and pools. These provide an area for passengers to spend time ashore within the port, while organised excursions and independent visits extend the cruise call into the surrounding destination.
Taino Bay is separate from Amber Cove, the cruise facility in Maimon Bay outside the city. The distinction is useful when arranging transport or shore activities, because a Puerto Plata itinerary may refer to either facility despite their different waterfront locations.
