Port of Hueneme

Port Hueneme specialises in cargo with distinct handling needs, particularly vehicles and fresh produce. Nearby vehicle processing operations and refrigerated facilities connect arriving ships with distribution on land. These activities give the port a strong link to automotive and agricultural supply chains.

Fresh produce arrives both in containers and as cargo handled outside containers on refrigerated vessels. Cold storage helps maintain temperature control between unloading and onward delivery. Vehicle shipments follow a separate chain, moving through handling and processing facilities before distribution to dealers and other customers.

The commercial terminal occupies part of a harbour also used by Naval Base Ventura County. Its basin is reached through a channel between jetties. This shared setting makes it useful to distinguish the commercial port from the wider naval facilities and the surrounding town.
