Port of Gwadar

Gwadar’s deepwater port handles several cargo types through multipurpose berths on the Arabian Sea. General cargo, bulk commodities, containers and wheeled freight form part of its designed handling role, supported by quayside equipment and storage areas.

An approach channel leads to a turning basin beside the main berths. This arrangement gives vessels access to the working quay, where cranes and associated handling facilities move cargo between ships and shore. A separate smaller port serves fishing vessels, reflecting the town’s established maritime activity alongside the commercial installation.

Gwadar’s location gives it a potential role in wider regional trade, but its existing facilities are best understood as a multipurpose cargo port. The deepwater terminal and fishing harbour perform different functions within the same coastal economy.
