Tanger Med Port

Tanger Med combines container transhipment with freight and passenger links across the Strait of Gibraltar. Its harbour complex is divided into several basins, with separate areas for container terminals and for ferries carrying vehicles, passengers and road freight.

The cargo business also includes finished vehicles, general cargo and liquid products. Vehicle handling is connected to automotive manufacturing, while rail facilities link the port with inland logistics sites and production centres. Containers may therefore continue by land or transfer between ships within the port.

These different movements give Tanger Med two overlapping roles: an interchange within international shipping networks and a gateway for factories and hauliers. Its dedicated passenger and vehicle basin keeps cross-strait ferry operations distinct from the large container terminal areas.
