Port of Santo

Santo’s port facilities at Luganville provide a maritime gateway for the island of Espiritu Santo. Cargo handling and passenger visits share a waterfront whose functions include container trade, cruise calls and fuel deliveries. The port connects the island with overseas shipping and the wider island economy.

At Luganville’s main wharf, Northern Islands Stevedoring Company handles import and export containers, transfers and associated transport. Other facilities on the Santo waterfront accommodate mixed cargo and passenger operations, including the discharge of fuel through connections to shore storage.

These activities give the port a practical supply role as well as a place in cruise tourism. The movement of goods supports businesses and residents, while visiting ships bring passengers into the Luganville area through a distinct part of the waterfront economy.
