Port of West Sacramento
West Sacramento is an inland cargo port whose principal trades are rice exports and cement imports. The Sacramento Deep Water Ship Channel connects its waterfront with Suisun Bay and the wider route to the Pacific, bringing seaborne trade into the agricultural and construction economy of Northern California.
The North Terminal is the main cargo facility, operated by SSA Marine under the port’s landlord model. The wider maritime complex also includes a separate cement terminal on the ship channel, reflecting the importance of building materials in the port’s trade.
Its commercial role is shaped by these specialised bulk flows. Rice moves outward from the producing region, while imported cement supplies inland users. The channel and terminal facilities provide the marine link between those markets and ocean transport.
