Port of Stockton
Stockton brings ocean-going cargo vessels inland through the San Joaquin River and a deepwater channel. Its terminals specialise in dry and liquid bulk cargo, supported by warehouses and handling areas for other freight moving through the Central Valley.
The working waterfront includes the East Complex along the channel towards the turning basin. Port facilities connect with roads and a local port railway, which in turn links with two major freight railroads. These connections allow cargo to move between ships, storage areas and inland customers.
The port’s inland position is its defining feature. Vessels carry commodities beyond the coastal bay before unloading, placing the marine terminal closer to agricultural and industrial users. Warehousing and rail access then support the next stage of distribution from the riverfront.
