Motril: cargo, passenger services and coastal tourism
Motril combines commercial shipping with passenger and cruise activity on the Costa Tropical. Its breakwater harbour contains separate quays for different trades, allowing bulk cargo, vehicles and visitors to use distinct parts of the waterfront.
The Azucenas area accommodates cargo such as grain, fertilisers, containers and project shipments. Other quays provide roll-on/roll-off and passenger facilities, while liquid cargo, fishing and leisure boating add further uses within the port complex.
Cruise calls connect the harbour with Motril and the wider Granada visitor economy. Alongside this tourism role, the cargo terminals supply businesses through the movement of industrial and agricultural commodities. The port’s mixed layout reflects these parallel activities rather than dependence on a single type of vessel or cargo.
