Port of Puerto Cortes

Puerto Cortés provides a Caribbean gateway for containerised and general cargo. Its harbour occupies a sheltered part of the bay, with commercial facilities serving different trades around the waterfront and within the wider port area.

Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana runs the container and general cargo terminal. Quays, handling areas and storage support the transfer of cargo between vessels and inland transport, while facilities for refrigerated containers serve shipments that require controlled temperatures during their stay in port.

Bulk and liquid cargo use separate installations, including specialised terminal areas outside the container operation. The port therefore combines several cargo businesses under one geographical name, with different berths and handling arrangements for boxed freight, loose commodities and liquids.
