Virtsu: the mainland ferry link to Muhu and Saaremaa
Virtsu is the mainland departure port for the ferry crossing to Kuivastu. This short sea link forms part of the route to Muhu and Saaremaa, carrying island traffic through a harbour whose main activity follows the movement of ferries.
The harbour is operated by Saarte Liinid and accommodates more than scheduled passenger services. Its published services also cover cargo ships, state vessels and recreational craft, giving the waterfront several uses alongside the ferry connection.
Facilities for smaller boats include a slipway, water and electricity supplies, while waste and bilge-water reception support visiting vessels. Parking is available ashore. The combination of ferry infrastructure and harbour services makes Virtsu both an island gateway and a stopping point for other maritime traffic.
