Sanshan: river trade within Wuhu’s industrial port system
Sanshan forms part of Wuhu’s river port system on the Yangtze. Its location places it within an industrial transport corridor in Anhui, where port facilities connect regional businesses with river shipping and overseas trade.
The transport ministry formally opened the Sanshan port area to international traffic in 2024. In August that year, a direct overseas arrival brought iron ore from Vietnam to its second berth, marking the first international sailing under the expanded opening arrangements.
Sanshan also has a supporting role in Wuhu’s container transport system, alongside Yuxikou, with Zhujiaqiao as the principal container area. This combination of bulk cargo activity and container development reflects its place within a wider group of river terminals serving the city’s trade and industrial economy.
