Nantong: industrial and agricultural cargo along the lower Yangtze
Nantong’s river port lies along the lower Yangtze, where inland shipping connects with maritime trade. Its terminals serve industrial supply chains and agricultural commodities through a network of distinct operating areas along the river.
Container handling includes the Tonghai terminal, whose activities also cover fertiliser cargoes and container packing and unpacking. At Henggangsha in the Tiansheng port area, a grain and oil terminal has silos and warehouses supporting the transfer of bulk commodities. Three of its berths received approval for temporary operation in May 2026.
These facilities show the range of cargo moving through the river port. The combination of container services and specialised bulk storage links inland production and distribution with seagoing transport through the Yangtze estuary.
