Trans Asia Group — also known as TASS Group — is a diversified Indian shipping and logistics organisation with roots dating back to the early 1990s. The group’s flagship company, Trans Asian Shipping Services (P) Ltd., was incorporated in 1992 in Kochi, Kerala, and has since expanded into multiple aspects of maritime transport and supply-chain solutions.

Although sometimes referenced in container tracking systems simply as Trans Asia, the group operates across a broad spectrum of services including ship owning, liner operations, container leasing, freight forwarding, coastal and international logistics, warehousing, customs brokerage and project cargo handling. Its evolution reflects a deliberate effort to integrate traditional shipping functions with modern logistics services.

Trans Asia Line (often abbreviated TAL) emerged from the company’s liner division, launching scheduled sea services that connect the Middle East, Southeast Asia, India, the Indian subcontinent and China. Building on early agency experience, Trans Asia shifted into owning and managing its own shipping operations, establishing a niche in regional trade lanes that link emerging markets with global ports.

The group’s logistics arm extends beyond sea freight to include LCL (less-than-container load) consolidation, airfreight brokerage, contract logistics, domestic distribution and customs facilitation. Its network includes both proprietary offices and strategic partners in countries across Asia, the Middle East and Africa, enabling end-to-end coordination for importers, exporters and freight customers.
