Port of Milwaukee
Milwaukee links Lake Michigan shipping with agricultural and industrial supply chains in the Midwest. Its harbour lies at the mouth of the Milwaukee River, with cargo facilities supported by rail and road connections into the surrounding region.
Agricultural exports include dried distillers grains, an animal feed ingredient produced during ethanol manufacture. The DeLong export facility receives commodities by truck and rail, moves them through storage and conveys them to vessels. It also has provision for other grains and oilseeds.
Bulk and heavy cargo handling gives the port an additional industrial role. These operations sit alongside passenger and recreational uses of the waterfront, making Milwaukee a working Great Lakes harbour with separate facilities for trade, visiting ships and local activity on the water.
