Port of Kahului
Kahului is a supply gateway for Maui, receiving goods that range from vehicles and building materials to petroleum products and containerised freight. Its commercial piers occupy the southeastern side of a harbour enclosed by breakwaters on the island’s northern coast.
The waterfront handles both ocean-going ships and interisland barges. Transit sheds and open storage areas hold cargo between unloading and collection, with lorries providing the onward connection across the island. Different piers accommodate general freight, bulk cement, fuel and other deliveries needed by local businesses.
Cruise calls add a passenger role to this working harbour. Cargo and visitor traffic share the wider port setting, but the regular movement of supplies remains central to Kahului’s connection with the rest of the island economy.
