Port of Latakia

Latakia is an eastern Mediterranean cargo gateway with a substantial role in containerised imports and exports. Its international container terminal connects maritime freight with an inland market extending beyond the coastal city towards Damascus and the northern interior.

The container business is centred on Latakia International Container Terminal, operated within the CMA CGM group. Its role is to handle the transfer between sea transport and inland distribution, supporting the movement of imported goods and outward shipments through the port.

The terminal is also the subject of a staged modernisation and expansion programme. Planned changes cover cargo-handling systems and infrastructure, reflecting the importance of the existing gateway to regional supply chains and the movement of goods through the eastern Mediterranean.
