Port of Kuantan

Kuantan’s commercial port at Tanjung Gelang serves industrial cargo and container traffic on the east coast. Its protected harbour connects maritime transport with manufacturing and commodity businesses in the surrounding industrial corridor.

The original port area, known as KP1, handles a mix of cargoes including containers. The New Deep Water Terminal adds facilities for dry bulk and breakbulk cargo, with its first development stages entering operation in 2018 and 2019. These are separate working areas within the modern port complex.

The combination supports both goods carried in containers and materials loaded individually or in bulk. This industrial harbour is distinct from the older river port at the Kuantan River, which occupies a different location farther south.
