Port of Klaipeda
Klaipeda combines container shipping, bulk cargo and ferry traffic at the entrance to the Curonian Lagoon. Its terminals serve a varied inland economy, with separate facilities for goods that require different forms of storage and transfer between ship and shore.
Grain, oil products, fertilisers and liquefied natural gas form part of the port’s cargo mix, alongside containerised freight. Ferry operations add roll-on, roll-off transport, allowing trailers and other wheeled cargo to move directly between vessels and terminal areas.
Road and rail links connect the waterfront with inland origins and destinations. This range of cargo functions gives Klaipeda a role in agricultural exports, energy supply and manufactured goods, while passenger ferries add a transport connection across the Baltic alongside the freight business.
