Port of Mombasa
Mombasa is an Indian Ocean gateway for inland markets across East and Central Africa. Its cargo facilities around Kilindini Harbour and Port Reitz connect overseas shipping with transport corridors serving destinations including Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan.
Container terminals operate alongside specialised berths for grain, soda ash, clinker, titanium and petroleum products. Grain can pass from ships through conveyors to silos or be bagged for collection by lorry. Oil facilities connect the waterfront with onshore tank storage and pipeline infrastructure.
This variety gives the port a role in both regional consumer supply chains and industrial trade. Rail and road connections carry cargo beyond the coast, while dedicated terminal areas accommodate commodities with different handling needs. A separate cruise passenger facility adds another use to the harbour.
