Port of Aqaba

Aqaba provides a maritime gateway at the head of the Gulf of Aqaba, linking its inland hinterland with shipping routes through the Red Sea. Container handling is an important part of this role, supporting imports and exports through a dedicated terminal.

Aqaba Container Terminal transfers cargo between ships and the land transport system. Container storage and terminal handling form the intermediate stage between an ocean voyage and onward delivery, or between an export consignment’s arrival at the port and loading aboard a vessel.

The terminal serves a market extending into the Levant, giving Aqaba significance beyond the coastal city itself. Its commercial purpose is to connect inland supply chains with maritime services through the gulf, bringing regional trade to a relatively concentrated stretch of waterfront.
