Port of Yokosuka

Yokosuka is a harbour with a strong naval and ship repair identity on the western side of Tokyo Bay. Its sheltered waters and separate harbour districts support a varied maritime landscape, with the main Yokosuka basin closely associated with the naval base.

Azuma Island separates the Yokosuka and Nagaura harbour areas, helping define the layout of the waterfront. The wider port includes several districts with different functions, rather than one continuous commercial terminal serving a single type of cargo.

Public harbour cruises from Shioiri offer a view of this maritime setting from the water. Naval facilities, repair activity and sightseeing therefore contribute different aspects of the port’s character, although visitor cruises remain separate from access to operational military facilities.
