Port of Shimizu
Shimizu combines container trade with a range of other cargo activities in the northwestern part of Suruga Bay. Its harbour is divided into several sections, with specialised wharves and terminal areas serving different parts of the commercial waterfront.
The Sodeshi and Shin-Okitsu container facilities provide space for handling and storing boxes between ship calls and inland collection. Refrigerated container connections, inspection areas and fumigation facilities support cargoes that require additional treatment or checks before leaving the terminal.
Other wharves accommodate goods such as timber, extending the port’s activity beyond container shipping. This mix links the bay’s maritime access with shore facilities adapted to individual commodities: container yards support packaged freight, while separate working areas serve cargo that needs different unloading and storage arrangements.
