Port of Bari
Bari combines Adriatic passenger connections with commercial cargo handling beside the old city. The main trading harbour, Bacino Grande, lies to the northwest of the historic centre, separate from the smaller waterfront used by fishing vessels and other small craft.
Breakwaters enclose the commercial basins, where different quays accommodate grain, general cargo, containers and other freight. This mix gives the port a role in regional supply as well as in the movement of people and vehicles across the Adriatic.
Ferry links with Albania and Greece connect Bari with the opposite shore, while cruise calls add another passenger activity. Cargo and passenger traffic consequently require different spaces within the same harbour: working quays and storage areas for goods, alongside embarkation facilities and vehicle waiting areas for sea crossings.
