Bécancour: industrial cargo on the St Lawrence
Bécancour’s port connects the adjacent industrial park with shipping on the St Lawrence River. Its position between Montréal and Québec City supports the movement of raw materials, manufactured products and other commercial cargo.
The waterfront includes general and bulk cargo berths, handling areas and storage space. A liquid bulk terminal is linked to the quays by pipe racks, allowing products to move between ships and shoreside tanks. A rail connection to the Canadian National network provides another route for cargo beyond the port.
Imports such as alumina and other mineral inputs serve industrial production, while manufactured goods also move outward through the harbour. This combination of nearby factories, storage and transport links makes the port part of an integrated industrial estate.
