Port of Bridgetown
Bridgetown’s Deep Water Harbour brings cargo imports and cruise passengers into a multipurpose port beside the capital. It is an important entry point for goods used by retailers and manufacturers, while also providing facilities for the island’s export trade.
The enclosed harbour contains commercial quays serving containerised and other freight. Grain handling and flour milling form part of the waterfront’s industrial infrastructure, alongside areas used for cargo storage and collection. The modern harbour is separate from the older Careenage within the city.
Cruise activity shares this maritime gateway with the supply business that supports everyday life ashore. Cargo moves onward through local transport and distribution networks, while passenger facilities receive visitors arriving by sea. The port’s importance therefore extends from tourism to the movement of food, materials and manufactured goods.
