Founded in 1885 and headquartered in Tokyo, Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) is one of the world’s oldest and most comprehensive maritime-logistics enterprises. Beginning in Japan as the industry modernized, the company has since become an international force, operating more than 800 ships—from container and bulk carriers to LNG/energy vessels, car carriers, reefers and specialized ships. At the end of March 2024, the Group’s major-ocean-vessel fleet numbered 824.

Today, NYK’s business extends far beyond conventional liner shipping: the NYK Group encompasses ocean transport, air‐cargo, land logistics, terminal & harbor operations, engineering, tugboat services and supply-chain management.
