Port of Skagway
Skagway combines cruise arrivals with the movement of supplies into a community at the northern end of the Inside Passage. Its waterfront accommodates passenger ships, Alaska Marine Highway ferries, fuel barges and other cargo barges, alongside smaller commercial and recreational craft.
The harbour lies beside the delta of the Skagway River at the head of Taiya Inlet. Separate docks and a small boat harbour divide its activities, while fuel connections and freight handling areas serve the town’s supply needs. The White Pass and Yukon Route railway meets the waterfront nearby.
Cruise tourism gives the port a pronounced visitor role, but barge and ferry movements also support everyday access and deliveries. This combination ties the waterfront to both the visitor economy and the practical movement of people, fuel and goods.
