Port of Lewiston
Lewiston is an inland barge port at the navigable end of the Columbia–Snake river system. Locks and dams connect its waterfront with downstream coastal ports, giving the agricultural regions around the Palouse and Camas Prairie a water route towards overseas markets.
The port’s multipurpose dock includes crane handling, barge moorings, outdoor storage and dockside warehousing. Its removable edge rail allows roll-on/roll-off cargo to pass between shore and barge. Nearby roads and railways provide other options for moving consignments into and out of the terminal.
The neighbouring Lewis-Clark Terminal specialises in grain storage and shipment for regional growers. It also has railway loading facilities for commodities including peas and lentils. These operations connect local harvests with export companies, combining storage, inland transport and the downstream barge journey within the same industrial waterfront.
