Kalama: grain exports and industrial river terminals
Kalama’s riverfront terminals handle grain and industrial cargo along the Columbia River. Two grain facilities, KALEX and TEMCO, combine vessel berths with storage silos and conveyors, connecting the movement of agricultural commodities with ocean-going ships.
Other parts of the waterfront serve different trades. The North Port terminal handles bulk materials and steel products, while separate facilities support chemical inputs and forest products. These installations form a series of specialised river berths rather than a single enclosed harbour basin.
A marina and public waterfront areas sit alongside the port’s industrial estate. Kalama consequently brings together export infrastructure, manufacturing-related cargo and recreational boating, with each activity using its own section of the river frontage.
