Port of Izmit (Evyap)

Izmit lies at the eastern end of a gulf whose waterfront serves a dense industrial region. Maritime trade here is spread among several separate terminals around the Gulf of Izmit, with each facility handling its own cargo mix and serving particular industrial or distribution needs.

Container facilities at Yarımca form one part of that wider network. Other terminals along the gulf handle general cargo, dry bulk and liquids, with storage areas and tanks supporting the transfer between ships and shore-based businesses.

This dispersed layout reflects the close relationship between port activity and the factories of Kocaeli. The gulf provides their maritime approach, while road and rail links at individual terminals connect overseas shipments with production sites and inland markets.
