Bodrum: an urban harbour centred on yachting
Bodrum’s inner harbour is closely tied to yachting and the town’s waterfront economy. Beside the castle, the marina and surrounding quays place visiting boats within the urban centre, close to shops, restaurants and historic sites.
Milta Bodrum Marina provides afloat berthing, shoreside boat space and technical support. The harbour’s role extends beyond mooring: sailing events and cultural activity around the restored Ottoman shipyard connect the waterfront with the wider town.
The inner harbour is distinct from Bodrum’s cruise terminal farther along the bay. Larger cruise ships and ferry operations use dedicated facilities there, while the town basin retains its emphasis on smaller craft and marina activity. This division helps explain the different forms of passenger and leisure traffic associated with Bodrum.
