Port of Koper
Koper is a multipurpose Adriatic gateway connecting overseas shipping with Central European markets. Containers and vehicles are prominent trades, but the port also handles timber, refrigerated goods, grain, dry bulk and liquid cargo through specialised terminal areas.
The commercial harbour extends beside the town, with different basins and quays serving the cargo terminals. Car handling areas accommodate roll-on/roll-off traffic, while silos, warehouses and open storage provide arrangements suited to other goods. This division allows cargoes with very different handling requirements to pass through the same port estate.
Rail connections are an important part of Koper’s inland reach, supported by tracks within the port and services towards its European hinterland. Road transport complements that network. The port therefore combines maritime transfer with storage and onward distribution across a market extending well beyond the coastal city.
