Vitino: a liquid-cargo terminal on the White Sea
Vitino developed as a specialised outlet for liquid cargo in Kandalaksha Bay. Its waterfront at Beloye More was designed around the transfer of petroleum products between shore facilities and tankers, giving it an industrial role distinct from a general cargo harbour.
In 2009, the port comprised four berths. Its handling arrangements supported transfers from storage facilities and other forms of transport to ships, as well as movements in the opposite direction. Petroleum products formed the core of this specialised maritime operation.
Vitino is now administered as a marine terminal within the port of Kandalaksha. Winter ice affects access to this northern waterfront: the harbour authority introduced seasonal navigation restrictions for the terminal in early 2026, reflecting conditions in the surrounding waters.
