Port of Primorsk
Primorsk’s commercial waterfront is centred on the transfer of oil and petroleum products to tankers. Set on the eastern side of the Björkösund strait, its terminal facilities form part of the oil export infrastructure of the Gulf of Finland.
The marine installation includes piers and tanker berths extending from the shore. Its specialised layout brings liquid cargo handling together with the mooring and vessel services required at an oil terminal. Crude oil and refined products define the port’s cargo profile and distinguish its role within the wider Baltic port network.
The approaches pass through a coastal landscape of islands and sheltered channels before reaching the terminal. Winter ice is a recurring feature of this setting. Primorsk’s port infrastructure therefore combines the shore facilities of the petroleum trade with the marine arrangements needed for tanker movements in the northern Baltic.
