Khor Al Zubair Port

Khor Al Zubair is an industrial cargo port on the tidal waterway north of Umm Qasr. Oil products, project cargo and conventional freight are central to its commercial role, connecting maritime transport with the industrial economy around Basra. Its quays lie farther inland than the port at Umm Qasr.

Specialised facilities handle liquid cargo through pipelines, while other areas accommodate breakbulk shipments such as pipes and heavy equipment. Storage and handling space support goods that require individual lifting and staging rather than movement solely in standard containers.

The waterway provides a shared approach to a series of distinct port installations. Within this setting, Khor Al Zubair supports both industrial imports and petroleum product exports; its main cargo harbour and the separate gas terminal farther downstream have different functions.
