Bushehr: commercial quays and coastal trading vessels
Bushehr’s commercial harbour occupies the inlet beside the northern end of the city’s peninsula. Its cargo waterfront combines facilities for general goods, refrigerated cargo and liquid bulk with berths used by dhows, the smaller trading vessels associated with regional coastal commerce. This gives the port a mixture of conventional shipping and smaller-vessel activity.
The quays face sheltered inland water, reached through dredged channels across the shallow coastal approaches. Cargo facilities extend along the inlet, with berth arrangements suited to different vessel sizes and handling requirements rather than a single uniform terminal.
The harbour serves markets in the surrounding provinces and maintains a distinct role from the specialised oil export terminals elsewhere along the coast. Its commercial character comes from the variety of goods and vessels using this urban waterfront.
