Port of Safaga
Safaga brings together mineral exports, grain handling and passenger traffic on a sheltered Red Sea bay. The port’s industrial waterfront includes facilities associated with phosphate shipments, while separate berths serve ferries, vehicles and other cargo moving through the harbour.
The bay is partly enclosed by Safaga Island and surrounding reefs. Within this setting, specialised bulk facilities and multipurpose quays accommodate different supply chains: grain moves through dedicated handling areas, while mineral cargo and steel products use other parts of the waterfront.
The port is also undergoing a new phase of development. Trial operations began at Noatum Ports Safaga Terminal in June 2026. This marks a distinct stage in the terminal’s introduction, alongside the established cargo and passenger facilities already serving the bay.
