Zadar: island connections beside the old town
Zadar’s city harbour brings passenger boats directly to the edge of the historic peninsula. Its role centres on local sea connections, including the passenger service to Preko, which links the city with the nearby island of Ugljan.
The old harbour occupies an inlet between the peninsula and the mainland, protected by a breakwater. Quays along this urban waterfront provide boarding points within walking distance of the old town, making arrivals part of the city’s everyday transport and visitor activity.
The larger ferry and commercial facilities at Gaženica lie separately to the south-east. Keeping those locations distinct is important when describing Zadar’s maritime network: the city harbour serves a compact passenger waterfront, while other terminal functions are concentrated outside the historic centre.
