Port of Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik’s main passenger harbour is at Gruž, where cruise ships, ferries and coastal excursion vessels use the sheltered inlet. It provides the city’s principal arrival point for larger passenger ships, with onward road connections to the historic centre and surrounding destinations.
Gruž developed as a cargo and passenger port, with timber handling and cold storage among its earlier activities. Its modern development has concentrated on passenger traffic, linking cruise tourism with ferry journeys and smaller coastal voyages along the Adriatic.
The harbour is separate from the small port beside the Old Town walls. Passengers arriving at Gruž therefore complete their journey to the historic centre by land, while the bay accommodates the berths and shore facilities needed for larger ship calls.
