Wuzhou: river freight linking Guangxi with the Pearl River Delta
Wuzhou is an inland port on the Xijiang waterway, linking eastern Guangxi with the Pearl River Delta. Its freight role extends across a network of river terminals, where containers and bulk cargo connect local industry with downstream markets and coastal shipping gateways.
Chishui is one of the operating areas within this wider port system. A direct container service between Chishui and Hong Kong was launched in March 2024, adding an overseas trade connection to the river network serving the Wuzhou hinterland.
The inaugural sailing carried alcoholic beverages from Beiliu in the Yulin area. The launch announcement also identified stainless steel products and veterinary pharmaceutical ingredients among the export trades the route was intended to support, illustrating the range of manufacturers within its inland catchment.
