Shuidong: liquid cargo and commercial quays serving Maoming
Shuidong is the established harbour serving Maoming, with an industrial role closely associated with oil and other liquid cargoes. Its inner facilities lie within Shuidong Bay, reached through a marked channel leading in from the open coast.
General cargo berths add a separate function to the harbour’s energy trade. The wider Shuidong system also includes an offshore tanker mooring connected to shore by pipeline; this offshore installation is geographically separate from the quays inside the bay.
Shuidong forms one part of Maoming’s wider port system, alongside Jida and Bohe New Port. These areas were named separately in the transport ministry’s 2026 announcement extending the port’s opening to international shipping. Their different locations matter when identifying the terminal intended for a cargo movement.
