Port of Dalhousie
Dalhousie is a multipurpose cargo port near the mouth of the Restigouche River. Its waterfront serves dry bulk, breakbulk and project shipments, providing a marine outlet for materials and equipment associated with the regional economy.
The cargo role includes forest products, with woodchip shipments forming part of the port’s trading history. Multipurpose handling allows the commercial quay to accommodate different consignments rather than relying on a single container operation. The river setting places these facilities close to the entrance to Chaleur Bay.
Fishing activity has a distinct place on the waterfront too. Ferry Wharf supports the neighbouring Mi’gmaq fishing community, alongside the port’s commercial cargo functions. These separate uses give Dalhousie a combination of industrial transport and local working-harbour activity.
