Port of Santos
Santos is an estuary port serving the São Paulo region and a broad agricultural and industrial hinterland. Container traffic sits alongside bulk commodity movements, including soya and sugar exports and fertiliser imports. This mix links the waterfront with both manufacturing supply chains and inland farming regions.
The harbour follows the navigable estuary between islands, with quays and specialised terminals arranged along the channel. Ships approach through Santos Bay before entering the working port, where different facilities handle boxed goods, loose agricultural commodities and liquid cargoes.
The Santos Port Authority manages the public port and its shared infrastructure. Its commercial role depends on the combination of specialised terminals and a large inland market, bringing together export cargoes and incoming goods within the same maritime gateway.
