Port of Durres

Durres combines a commercial cargo harbour with a ferry gateway on the Adriatic. Alongside the city, its terminals handle containerised goods, general cargo and passenger traffic, giving the port a direct role in both freight distribution and international travel.

The western terminal serves general cargo, while a dedicated container area manages container storage and movements. The passenger terminal accommodates travellers arriving on foot and with vehicles, with ferry connections across the Adriatic to Italian ports.

These activities bring several transport chains into the same waterfront complex. Containers and other cargo continue towards inland customers, while ferry traffic links road journeys with sea crossings. The port’s mix of freight facilities and passenger infrastructure makes it an important interchange for the city and its hinterland.
