Akkon Lines is a Turkish container shipping company that was established in 2018 under the umbrella of Akkon Maritime Transport & Trade A.S. and backed by partners including Akarlar Shipping, which has over 50 years’ experience in the Turkish maritime sector. The company sets out to provide direct, weekly container services between Turkey and Libya and, more broadly, regional Mediterranean trade-routes.

Akkon Lines emphasises the use of modern and faster container vessels and offers a wide range of container types—such as open-top, high-cube, flat-rack, pallet-wide and reefer equipment—to meet the varied demands of its clients. The company’s roots include establishing branch offices in Turkish cities (Bursa, Istanbul, Izmir, Mersin) as well as maintaining an office in Libya to coordinate its liner activities.

Interestingly, Akkon has shown ambition in expanding its regional footprint: for example, in 2019 the company announced a service linking Spanish ports (such as Valencia, Castellón and Barcelona) with Algerian ports (Algiers, Béjaïa, Annaba) via its container vessel “Greta”.
